Gioachino Rossini's birthday is on Feb. 29, so celebrated only on "anni bisestili" called "leap years" in English. While Google's Doodle for Feb. 29, 2012 is creative as usual, it makes me wonder whether anyone has cared to figure out that "anno bisestile" in Italian has nothing to do with frogs and in fact it feels a bit odd to see our composer associated with the cute amphibians! (What happened to thoughtful localization? Google.it shows the same Doodle this time). Worth celebrating the noble birthday at any rate but I really enjoyed this entry urging the kiss of a Princess:-) Being Italian, Rossini could not possibly be cold-blooded, that we know!
