We're looking for business partners in order to evaluate together the possibility to export our products and services in USA.
My name is Nicola Iotti, I'm one of the founders and the CTO of a company called Guglielmo (www.guglielmo.biz). We started in 2004 and today we're one of the more important Wireless Internet Service Provider in Italy.
We handle more than 2000 hot spot in the whole country with more than 300,000 users and 5,000,000 connections every year and we have one of the more technically advanced solution worldwide in wi-fi.
We use a central authentication system so the same account is valid in all the hotspot, we defined several policy in order to handle free access and the paid ones in a different way and in order to meet the customer requirements concerning the login page, the marketing strategies and so on... We implement several different ways to provide the account (username and password) to the final user i.e. vouchers, credit card, sms on the cellular phone.... Our customers are the big providers like Telecomitalia or Fastweb that sell our solution to Hotels, airports, harbors, public administrations....and the location owners are completely free to decide the policies and to make business.
There are some aspects that make our solution unique : 1: the scalability of the system makes it able to handle more than 1000 times the number of connections handled today. 2: on-site we installed a gateway made by us. It's a network device that performs the authentication of the users connected to the access points. It's assembled in Italy (with hardware made in Taiwan) and the software is developed by us in collaboration with the University of Parma. This gateway just needs an internet connection, then automatically contacts the central platform and starts providing all the services. Using the VPN, it's constantly monitored and reachable 3: We have ad advanced research project about Vertical Handover and we developed an application (for Windows and Android at the moment)based on a patented algorithm, able to choose dynamically the best connection switching between cellular network and wi-fi, handling all the authentication and login /logout procedures in a transparent way for the user. So our hotspots network is able to perform the data offload of the 3G network that is a very hot topic worldwide, for this reason we were invited in several international conferences. 4: We're working on a very innovative project about M2M communication. The idea is to use our more than 10,000 Access Points like data collectors of any kind and build a central platform able to collect, elaborate and disseminate these data to user's devices in order to perform services like smart parking, smart queues, sensors network for alarms collections.
Considering how the central system works with the gateway on-site and the deep control of the system because all the parts are developed internally, the whole solution is easily exportable worldwide, for example, if we send a gateway to a BAR in San Francisco, once the gateway is connected to the internet, the BAR could provide internet connection, selling it or for free and immediately all the features is active and, with an agreement, an AT&T or Verizon customer could use wi-fi to download data instead of the cellular network that is every day more overloaded....
