I actually wrote a post about a quick stop in Milan on my blog! If you are interested, here it is:

I love Milan! Even though it is never one of the big highlights of an Italian trip, there is really lots to see and do!
Yes, I agree that is not one of those cities that visitors to Italy rave about. It can be difficult to "navigate" at times, but if you know it, it has plenty of hidden treasures.

A couple of my favorite places in Milano:

  • Cappuccino & brioche in the morning @ Pasticceria Cucchi. They have many different kinds of freshly baked croissants that are absolutely delicious.

  • If it's a nice day, lunch or a drink on the terrazza at the top of La Rinascente. It's sort of an upscale food court, with an awesome view of the Duomo. http://www.rinascente.it/foodandrestaurants/

  • An evening walk between the Duomo and Castello Sforzesco: I love walking around the center of Milano, and that is a nice walk, in a long, pedestrian-only area of the city. Lots of places where you can stop and have an aperitivo along the way, which in Milano is always served with tons of food (you can pretty much skip dinner).

..."skip dinner", or postpone it to a nice Carbonara or pizza Margherita after movie or theater, as in every other civilized country in the world.

;)
