Italian security technology no longer available to Syrian government

I was just listening today a KQED "Fresh Air" radio program episode titled "The Technology Helping Repressive Regimes Spy"

Guest journalist Ben Elgin, talking about a Bloomberg News series, discuss how some of the security and surveillance technology developed in the west is being used by repressive regimes to monitor dissidents and the general population.

In particolare he singles our one Italian company, Area, for supplying technology to Syria. He fails however to acknowledge that last month Area decided to drop the project.
