Very interesting topic and a thought provoking video.

It seems Italy is at a crossroads between a cultural paradigm dating back to ancient Roman times; and a new inclusive Italy which capitalizes on its growing resources.

Unfortunately, due to the current political climate I believe the issue is going to get much uglier before it gets better. The backlash against the new population will build until a critical mass forms, and only then will there be and urgency to put in place a framework for success for dealing with a new demographic/cultural model - through education reform, economic/political development etc.

At my university our one of our professors screened a brilliant film called "Quando Sei Nato Non Puoi Più Nasconderti
" Directed by Marco Tullio Giordana. It's worth checking out for a more intimate perspective on the issue within Italy today

Good to read your comments. I put this short film together when I was going to school in Rome. It was prompted by the way the Italians perceived me. Most of that was due to the area I lived in near the Vatican. There were many African illegal's there selling borsa's Fake Gucci bags on the street in my neighborhood; well guess who looked just like them?

So I was not well received at first, but just like any place you go, it depends on the area. I soon moved near pizza di spagna and made many friends then my perspective changed a bit. I plan to move back in a year. It was lots of fun.
