Hi Yoav,

There definitely is a lot of talent in Italy, but it's not as easily accessible as it is here. I have a web development business here in SF, and for one of our projects we are working on will try to address this particular issue.

For this project, I'm contacting a few career centers and Alumni associations in Italy. If you want, I'll be happy to pass your job descriptions. Most Italians are still on holiday, but I expect everything to get back in movement in September.

Let me know if you think I could help.

Alberto,

That would be great - thank you for the kind offer. Which career centers and associations are you in contact with?

We are just starting to ramp up our recruiting efforts as people return from vacation in Italy. The more people who hear about these open positions (and what I believe is a great, unique opportunity for people in Italy who want to enter the growing cleantech business) the better.

Thanks again,

Yoav

Yoav,

I took the freedom to propagate your post to another network of Italian students with some experience with the Silicon Valley, linking it directly.
Any person interested in your offer should be able to contact you directly.

Bests,
-Michele

Dear Yoav,

I went ahead and applied to the solergy website already but you can find me on Linkedin also.

I have spent the last eleven years working as a program manager, product manager, industrial designer, mechanical engineer, and business development manager for corporations such as PowerLight (now Sunpower), OptiSolar, Schuco Solar, Solyndra, Ducati Motorcycles and Valextra Milano. During this time, I have earned 26 patents and I have approximately 11 products/services currently in production and sold worldwide. I co-invented and co-developed PowerLight’s best selling rooftop products T-10 and T-5 for both the international and domestic market. This photovoltaic system is approximately 15% - 20% more efficient than PowerLight’s previous product. As the product leader for the residential photovoltaic system (SunTile), we received a class-A fire rating roof protection certification and UL listing.

At Solyndra, up to last week, I was managing a team of engineers designing new products for the domestic and international markets including rooftops, ground mounts and elevated structures. I was also leading the EMEA solar market as the Solyndra technical marketing expert interacting partners, EPC and customers supporting marketing and Business Development for feasibility studies and business opportunity analysis. Program manager with NPI, PDP experience.

Responsible for developing the entire PV product line for Schuco including rooftops and ground mount. PDP and NPI tools. Responsible to determine market requirements (PRD) in close dialogue with external partners and Marketing.

Accountable for enhancing customer satisfaction and impacting overall system cost and performance objectives delivering key customer value propositions

At OptiSolar, I was product lead for the design for the biggest solar farm in the world (600MW). I cross-functionally managed a team of 10 people, including directors and functional managers, reporting to the program I lead.

At PowerLight, I was the product leader for the development of commercial scale power plants arrays working cross-functionally with groups including R&D, Manufacturing, Sales and Business Development; taking the product from conception to release.

I also worked at Ducati motorcycles in Bologna, Italy where I created concepts for the Supermono 600cc body.

I was told by managers that my biggest attributes are creativity, determination and relevant knowledge and genuine entrepreneurial drive.

I truly believe that my long time passion for design, marketing and business dev. is evident and the skills and experience I have gained over the years would translate well to your organization.

I have earned a Bachelor of Science, as well as a Master of Science (MS) in Industrial Design from the Polytechnic of Milan University, a prestigious Italian University for Engineering and Design. My thesis was on Renewable Energy and I am also a member of the A.L.I. Design (Associazione Italiana Industrial Designers) and several American Renewable En, Groups.

I look forward to speaking with you in person to discuss my qualifications further.

Sincerely,

Gianluigi Mascolo
