Is Italy a right wing country?
Hi everybody,
I'm a new member of BAIA and first of all I need to say I 'm grateful to Franco Folini to have invited me in this special community of italians.
He knows me because is a member of my community on aNobii called Brain 2 Brain.
Then, I hope to know better all the members of BAIA and to share with you every kind of ideas about culture, politics, economy and innovation, expecially in mentality and not only in technology.
The first topic I want to submit to you is about last political election in Italy, and in particular i'd like to know if in your opinion Italy is turning into a right wing country and, in that case, which are the "deep" reasons of this political change.

First of all: welcome Mario!
After reading about Berlusconi idea of nationalizing Alitalia I'm not anymore sure about the meaning of right and left in Italy. For sure the political definition of left and right is significantly different in Europe from what it is here in US. From my personal point of view, left or right doesn't matter as long somebody in Italy starts to do something to reverse the current trend of a gradual but consistent and dangerous decline of the Italian economy, the Italian culture and in general of the relevance of Italy in the world.
Is Berlusconi the right person to make those changes? Italians have explicitly express their trust Silvio to be the right man, giving him a generous majority in both chambers of the parliament. The international community seems to be less excited.

I agree with Franco. Plus I have to say that - in my opinion - this big victory for the right seems to be a reaction of the very poor performances of the previous government.

As i said in my forum, i'm afraid that even if the ideological concepts of "right" and "left" wing are conclusively dead, they have changed into a symbolic and emotional shape inside of individual and collective consciousness.
This "gene mutation" could be very dangerous for politcs but expecially for social equilibrium, couldn't it?
