DESCRIPTION:\nA key component of the mission of BAIA (Business Associa
 tion Italy America) is to provide not only a business networking forum
  in the Bay Area, but a point of contact and sharing of ideas between 
 entrepreneurs in Italy and here. BAIA wraps up 2008 with a reflection 
 on how entrepreneurial ecosystems can be nurtured through initiatives 
 which spur entrepreneurship and serve as catalysts for economic dynami
 sm.\nIn March 2006, U.S. Ambassador to Italy, Ronald P. Spogli, launch
 ed the Partnership for Growth before a meeting of Confidustria's natio
 nal leadership. The Partnership for Growth was an early supporter of B
 AIA. Through hundreds of activities, the Partnership for Growth has so
 ught to spur economic dynamism, specifically to:\n\n1) Move research t
 o market;\n2) Grow risk capital markets;\n3) Spur innovation by streng
 thening the intellectual property rights (IPR) regime; and\n4) Create 
 and promote Italian entrepreneurial role models.\n\nRichard Boly is a 
 fellow at the Hoover Institute in Stanford. Mr. Boly helped design and
  implement the Partnership for Growth and would like to see such model
  replicated around the world. Mr. Boly will provide some details of th
 e Partnership for Growth's success and briefly discuss his efforts to
